| 01 | Friday the 13th | Very dark, very atmospheric film that is the stuff of nightmares. Teenagers are slaughtered at Camp Crystal Lake by somebody out for revenge on all teenagers. |
| 02 | Friday the 13th Part 2 | Excellent sequel with Jason getting revenge for the death of his mother. Actually, he pretty much does the same in all the other movies (apart from the first one), it's just given more emphasis here. |
| 03 | Friday the 13th Part 3 | The beginning shows flashbacks
to the 2nd film in which Jason is seen to be of average height and build. Hence it was a
bit of a surprise on first viewing that, although this film is set very shortly after Part
2, Jason is now taller and muscular. The film has a different feel to the first two, more money's been spent on it but there's little atmosphere. Jason also gains a hockey mask and this turns him into another Michael Myers. Having said this, I enjoy the film and Jason ensures his longevity by becoming a heavily built 'monster in a mask'. |
| 04 | Friday the 13th The Final Chapter | A very good entry in which Jason comes a cropper. Very well cast, very well made. |
| 05 | Friday the 13th Part V A New Beginning | Ohhhhhh dear. Jason's dead but
somebody's wandering around slaughtering teenagers. A completely unsurprising unmasking of the killer, in a very flatly directed cheapie, makes this the worst film in the series by far. |
| 06 | Friday the 13th Part VI Jason Lives | Good old Jason comes back to life and gets the series back on it's feet too. A very good entry in the series, though from now on you really do have to switch off your brain cells to accept what's going on. |
| 07 | Friday the 13th Part VII The New Blood | Jason VS telekinetic girl. I like it, it's different and fun. Go girl, go! |

Part VII Jason Takes Manhattan |
Another fun entry, with one of my favourite scenes in a Jason movie, in which he kicks over a radio belonging to some teenagers who then threaten him only for him to raise his mask before they turn tail and run. Jason has a sense of humour after all! |
| 09 | Jason Goes To Hell | I don't like the fact that Jason can move from body to body in this movie, we hardly see Jason in his usual form and this detracts from it. It also means he gets a line in the body of one of the characters and this is an utterly appalling thing to happen: Jason never speaks, he just kills. The second worst entry in the series. |
| 10 | Jason X | I couldn't wait to see this one
and I thought it was very good fun. Quite a bit of money seems to have been spent on this
one and it's one of the best Jason films. Jason on a spaceship? Great stuff. Although this is a long way from the Camp Crystal Lake teenager-slaughtering orgies that audiences were used to, this is a good move for Jason. Let's face it, he wants to murder everybody, so why not out in space? |
| 11 | Freddy VS Jason | I've never particularly rated
the Freddy Krueger 'Nightmare On Elm Street' films and I don't particularly rate him here
either. Jason is in fine form though and I quite like his battles with Freddy. Hopefully this is not the last we'll see of Jason. |
